Been looking on the Internet, and anything intelligible can not find.

I bought the hard drive to 1.5 TB, formatnul it to ext4, and ext4 with the default settings ate 26(!)GB. I know about the reservation of 5% of the space I have turned it off. It was found experimentally that created a huge number inode. Formatted with the -N 1000000.

Questions:

1) whether Correctly I made?

2) Why is default such a large overhead?

  1. 2 percent overhead'a — not so much, it will be worse if you have a lot of free space, and inode will be :)

  3. Architecture ext4 file system obsolete, for a static location of the inode fans constantly criticize XFS ext4.
