The situation is this, in the Department several developers, all Windows, began to use Git in development. (msysgit for windows). Many still XP, and some 7ka.

As a convenient tool (to menus, Windows, and at least console) for managing Git took TortoiseGit.
All who have Windows 7 — everything works fine. To committse, Maritsa and synchronized. There is no problem.
One XP — shoals solid: one encoding, one Cyrillic doesn't work, who doesn't want to sync or committse. In General, the problem at everyone.

Put everything in one file as msysgit and TortoiseGit.
Version (latest available on the websites):
TortoiseGit 1.5.8.0
git version 1.7.3.1.msysgit.0

Questions to the community:
1. What would you recommend in this situation? Go under Linux is not suitable for a number of reasons.
2. What are some other Git build as himself, and GUI client?
3. Hg (Mercurial) or Bazaar — how they behave under Windows XP / 7?

3. Mercurial we used at the zoo OS (XP, 7, Ubuntu, CentOS), everything is the same everywhere — all from the console worked.

Using msysgit 1.6.5.1 (on another machine used earlier, don't remember the numbers). One gets the feeling that with each new version is getting worse and worse :)
TortoiseGit do not use it, you Git Bash'. The main problem is not running the Protocol git://, you have via http:// to do (maybe Rukia fail?), with encodings and other like problems was not.

Put SmartGit :)

You can try to specify the encoding of the repository in ./.git/config or ~/.gitconfig, but I have no such problems arose.

Here you have a git with Cyrillic support, but rather, UTF8: code.google.com/p/utf8-git-on-windows/downloads/list

Also with Git - it could not install on XP , you still have the problem. In General, all problems that have installed the portable version Gitportable . The portable version works fine with windows XP, no problems with installation or further work in this app.
