There is a simple PCI sata raid controller. This here:
$ lspci
00:0a.0 RAID bus controller: Silicon Image, Inc. SiI 3112 [SATALink/SATARaid] Serial ATA Controller (rev 02)

Stick two SATA disk, the download fails on
Verifying DMI Pool Data.
And goes no further.
If the disks to vytknout — go.
The motherboard is booting from the primary IDE drive. Which of course is present and active.

What could be the reason and where to dig?
motherboard old tree stump 3rd, Gigabyte GA-6VA7+
