Good day,

Has anyone actually installed the PAE on Windows 7 Ult. (32 bit platform).

Particularly interested in this version.

When you start
BCDedit /set PAE forceenable says "The operation completed successfully" but no result.

habrahabr.ru/blogs/i_am_clever/20179/ says:
You face a choice:
* Score and live with it — the least bumpy ride, IMHO
* Put 64битную axle — still have 64-bit systems still have compatibility issues. One cure, another cripple.
* Put server 32битку — that's what I'm going to tell you in detail.

On the machine 6GB of RAM-a server version I don't think it is necessary to put.

And what kind of compatibility issues in 64-bit systems, if not a secret?

Microsoft Windows implements PAE if booted with the appropriate option, but current 32-bit desktop editions enforce the physical address space within 4GB even in PAE mode. Microsoft limits 32-bit versions of Windows to 4GB due to a licensing restriction, and Microsoft Technical Fellow Mark Russinovich says that some drivers were found to be unstable when encountering physical addresses above 4GB.

Need server Windows or 64-bit. Both quite good for a desktop.

On desktop 32-bit Windows access over 4 gigs using PAE does not work in the licence restrictions. Here this issue in detail. Here are a few options: either 64-bit or server version, or the failure of 6 gigs (however, in the memory above 4 gigs you can host logical disk for swap and temporary files use the RAMDisk), or to patch as described in that article, violating a license, risking ogresti bugs and praying with every system update, so the patch doesn't fall off.

What compatibility issues are you afraid of? For more than a year to live on 64-bit axes and they have never infringed my rights.

Ass PAE, then you have bugs with the software will swell to shovel, put x64 and do not worry.
