It requires the opinion of the collective mind.

There's a new server. On it centos(x86_64). The server is scheduled for mysql database. Whether to rebuild the kernel? Will give this a performance boost?
Thank you.

NO!
Put the Ghent, if you want to "rebuild".

Confirm own experience I can't but think that significant productivity gains will not be much more useful my.cnf to correct under the needs.
But happy to look at other responses in this thread.

Forces of RedHat all tested under specific packet for a specific kernel with specific options under it are written all the documentation. Dig deeper, there is a small chance to grab underground knocks, which no one except you. Works — don't touch.

Recompile the kernel makes sense only to include missing functions/drivers. For example to include additional necessary of targetou in the batch filter. Otherwise harmful and dangerous.

What kernel you want to change? Without a clear understanding of what customizable options available to meet, you can pile up all. Rebuilding for rebuild definitely not necessary. And mysql from scratch certainly doesn't help, tuning is more useful in other means to do as above written.

And what you do not like kernel-default? Similarly: what EXACTLY is it you do not like? You do when you rebuild, are there portunity and povklyuchat/polyglycine? Or as easy to collect...?

Can portuniti the timer, change the preemptive model, the patches at the worst to roll, but strong performance is unlikely to change if not to patch.
