Good afternoon.

There is a need to introduce in the project a fingerprint authentication. What can for this use? Have scanner Authentec AES1610 for tests. Driver under Win7, so under Linux, you need to work through fprintd or equivalents. Something to read on the subject?

And there are already implemented AT responsible for access control, for example, magnetic keys or something else?

By the way, just had an idea, if I figure it out, then write an extension for Opera that will allow sites to use the fingerprint scanner. Is this even possible? Ie, Opera must be using a scanner to remove the fingerprint image and send to the server, which will verify (perhaps create an extension for php).

Here it is written that fprint for this scanner supported.
You can read about this:
\rwww.reactivated.net/fprint/wiki/Main_Page
\rHere is article about how to configure the scanner to Ubuntu(though for 1600-th model).

Compile the file from the article www.ibm.com/developerworks/ru/library/l-libfprint/index.html
Get Segmentation fault. What's wrong?

The device is found, why the library could not see him. Well-used to work (really early in the repositories was also fprintd)
