This:
— access point Linksys WRT54GL;
— a computer with a large disk (in the project)
system on a dedicated computer, Linux. Preferably, as needed, and for other purposes
— all home computers under Windows (XP & 7)

Required — arrange on a dedicated computer shared file server that can connect as a network drive from any computer in the apartment (but not outside :)

How can this be done? What software to put on the file server? How to configure the access point and can I configure this device for such purposes? An attempt to reach out from one computer to another inside your home grid now fails. Maybe something wrong configured (kettle) in the access point, and perhaps she does not allow this.
To connect a routine to the apartment network cable first to the computer, and after it to put Wi-Fi access point (or to distribute directly with this computer) is not desirable. The computer may be switched off in Avtonom for tests and just off, and I have the clock enabled.

Good father frosts, and teach how to be? :)

I have myself organized, on the server, installed ubuntu server (the system was put on a cf card via an adapter cf-sata + 2 hard 1TB for under the trash and the torrents off if the disc no appeal within 30 minutes) + samba (there when setting up all registers, set the directory and a range of ip addresses, law, etc so that if it is correct to set — no one else does not climb) + when web face. On the Ubuntu set up LVM and when space is running out, just buy more hard.
All connected to the network through your router, a small tweak and it should work.

The access point in combination is also a router, so that the distribution of the Internet shouldn't be a problem.
Communication between hosts connected to the access point should be. As You try to reach?
On a Linux server and Samba, there will be no problems.

Here comrade wrote about the Assembly. But there is more for those parts and cost (in UAH). Might come in handy.
