Good evening.
Days will come laptop

Acer Aspire V3-771 PowerStation Full HD
Screen: 17.3"
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
CPU: Intel Core i7
RAM: 6 GB
Hard disk drive (HDD): 750 GB
Video card: GeForce GT 740M

And I want to put linux on it (currently on a home PC is ubuntu 13.04), the laptop will be used place a home PC for work (web programming) in Linux Oh I'm not special, used ubuntu on a home PC not so long, only 2-3 months.
Ubuntu in principle liked, but there was a question what version to put 12.04 LTS as the stable and wait for 14.04 LTS or 13.10 to deliver and again to wait for the 14.04 LTS, tell me which is better or just if you have experience with all these versions/other linux distros which one is better to choose, as well I think for my laptop it is better to put the x64 architecture?

x64 definitely. I would recommend 12.04. And wait for 14.04. But to put it not April, but rather in October)
This is all IMHO of course. I use Ubuntu since 2008. Something like this: 8.04, 8.10, 9.04, 9.10, 10.04, 12.04.

I propose to draw attention on Crunchbang (Debian-based). Fast, easy distribution in OpenBox. Everything you need is already included.

Can pay attention to Mint. A close relative of Ubuntu with a more traditional interface.

Put the latest Mint. If you work, Mate, if you want "nice", then with Cinnamon.

Strange situation. Start itself to respect and choose a distribution (and generally any software and hardware) based on their needs, not the needs of the laptop. Iron should work for you, not Vice versa.

I think with LTS worth the bother just for prodcess server. The house would be by far the last stable set.
