I have currently very bad Internet: low speed, large delay. About as bad using GPRS.

Sometimes the connection is lost for a few minutes.

What you can do with an ssh client or server to work was comfortable? Probably some compression, timeouts or something else... Maybe mc has some settings for this theme? Now, if the command is executed on the server more than a few seconds, I do not see the result until you start to type anything with the keyboard. Is it possible to tell ssh client to persistently tried to get an answer?

You can try to abandon the mc. Bash and readline — quite a comfortable environment to work. And require much less bandwidth of the channel. Plus in the end, you can feel the spirit of the Jedi, and generally to work without constant ssh connection, running the commands like this: ssh abcd.xyz find /dev -iname '*tty*' | (grep 12 && echo BINGO).

You can enable compression with ssh -C.
\r
If nothing comes up until then, until you send something, then it is likely not in the ssh, and TCP if a packet is lost, itself retransmisia is fairly large timeout, but if anything to put in the socket, it starts immediately. For some reason to reduce the timer via the /proc/sys/net impossible (the Internet tells me that "making TCP more aggressive is considered anti-social"), but you can rebuild the kernel, as did people here.

Nothing will help, I have SSH traffic is less than 20 kilobits what is already here compress the screenshots a bit save but still no ice, if you have the Skylink to get there more or less some sort of stability.
