Spinning forum on phpBB 3, messages about 100000, the size of the database now it's 300 megabytes.

On the main forum page, about 130 queries at a time, in sections of the categories of ~70.

How to optimize? With the move of the caching plugins are not found, only some makeshift method of fastening memcached.

UPD: put APC, relieved. But looking for a solution on the side of phpBB, to reduce the number of queries.

After a close acquaintance with the code of phpBB can offer you is to just go to another forum :)

Well, or take a hatchet and cut down all sorts of Fenichka and Primaticcio directly ustrahivaya pieces of code...

Architecture from phpBB initially clumsy, or rather I would say no...

phpBB is plaintext-coding :)

In General, the most practical advice is go to vBul, I don't know about speed (but large projects such as the forum.xda-developers, forums.devshed.com working on it), but the architecture it is clearly seen :)

Where are the brakes? php 5.3 + memcached sessions + XCache — all flies.
Total posts: 298395 | Topics: 9691 | User: 2792 — the base weighs somewhere near the gig.
The attendance, though not very high, averaging no more than 5 thousand queries per day.
