Most books are quickly outdated, and readers themselves do not recommend them. Wherever that is desirable to read in Russian.

A good book Reto Meier / Professional Android™ Application Development. But the truth in English. in Russian you know there is andbook with non-professional translation from 4pda — but it certainly is the first steps, which can be read on the same ibm developerworks.

Actually, lately when I have any question as what to implement — I just write in Google "android how to ...." and almost always find a post or in the forum, or Google group, etc. with the same question.
