Advise the search engine in the PHP library. That is, I wanted something like Sphinx but without needing installation on the server, so you can work with him on any hosting.

Use if it is not possible to use PostgreSQL or Sphinx put to use for searching by Google Search API.

Try Out Zend_Search_Lucene. However, it has a twist: all the index files when write operations keep open for maximum performance. In the result it is working on virtual hosting Masterhost (at least at the rate of "Specialist"), and does not work (results in error "Too many open files") — virtual hosting Zenon, where the maximum allowed number of simultaneously open files is 64.
