Backup server and channel?

In the fall of channel in DTS we leave clients without our service, the server itself works but that's as obvious to him there, usually a few minutes, but it has a negative impact on reputation.

Is the idea to place the backup server in another DC, and in the case of falling of the channel or the server on one and then switch the traffic to another.

But how to do it most properly is not clear.

It seems there are third-party services distribute the load but where is the guarantee that by directing the flow through them, they will not collapse when dose or just a heavy load.

Can you give me advice what to do in this case?

Fast switching in case of falling of the channel of one of the DTS will not work, only by switching the DNS, but it is not the time.
The second DC you do not need. In data centers always have a lot of channels from different providers, ask for second wire from another provider and connect it to the server too, this is the right decision.

PS: And if often falls DC, it is a bad DC.

To be honest never got around to checking, but the idea is very simple

DNS allows multiple A records for a name, in particular Round robin can give a whole list of IP addresses. The client is supposed to take the first timeout and switch to the next.

Well, another solution based on DNS and in 10 minutes it will switch.
