The problem is this... Set up FTP server in this example. In the end, the result did not suit me and I decided to remove the whole thing. But there it was! Withdrew all dependent packages except for the package called gforge-db-postgresql. When you upgrade repos and the list of packages in synaptic gets the following error: "E: gforge-db-postgresql: subprocess installed script pre-removal returned error code 100". The package now has a status of "error". Tried to stop the server. sudo /etc/init.d/proftpd stop and then to remove — does not help. How to remove it? The fact is that now this package prevents the install/remove any other.

sudo dpkg-r gforge-db-postgresql
\r
Removed package gforge-db-postgresql...
invoke-rc.d: unknown initscript, /etc/init.d/postgresql-8.4 not found.
dpkg: failed to process parameter gforge-db-postgresql (--remove):
the script subprocess installed pre-removal returned error code 100
In the processing of following packets there were errors:
gforge-db-postgresql
\r
In /etc/init.d/ do was not postgresql-8.4, postgresql was just. Made just under the root copied to another folder postgresql, renamed in postgresql 8.4 and thrown again in /etc/init.d/ After the package is calmly walked away, like the problem disappeared :-)
