Tagged FTP......?

Sat this weekend, thought I would try to write such a good, that was a pleasure to use. Idleness it is.

Not long ago I up FTP server for local network (movies/music as usual), and came up with the idea to write a set of tools that helps to distribute the files in the virtual folders using symbolic links.

For example, I have movie "A", which is a Comedy, it removed uncle Bob and aunt Pete. Using the administrative console could be beaten for the movie tag, and the system itself would have stuffed the symlinks to the movie directory of FTP server. That is, the same film would be in the directories /cinema/comedy /cinema/byActor/John, /cinema/byActor/Petya. IMHO, more comfortable than a conventional landfill a La cinema1, cinema2, etc.

Actually, the question is: is it someone you want?

Thick client, not ice. Do the web interface and all.

And I once did. However the frontend was ftp, and html, but it was built by a script, these folders are bypassed and created the page, and then all gathered to the heap. I.e. in the opposite direction than You intended. This is when BD was young and inexperienced... Symlinks is a powerful tool...

Judging by the lack of interest, see it no one fell :)

At least the description of the movie "And" where is aunt Pete, I'd read... Well, if the case, the tags would have pens to put down, which is usually laziness. Therefore, it makes no sense.

Yes, this is a problem. So it is necessary to look for a solution.
It was correctly said above, each aunt Pete in tags do not score, you have some more elegant solution.

parallel to the web interface. And it is not so difficult. If you have a thematic repository, then the structure of the set of tags is known (e.g. actors, genres) and in the end for the visitor get a classic descent on the tree", actor->John Smith->movies".

More can be done to be able to go to a folder, for example, search, as if there is no directory, an empty directory, and add in the address bar that it is necessary to find (/search/blabla.avi) and it finds. That would be interesting!
