Have Ubuntu 10.10 x64.

Is IM client Pidgin 2.7.5 updated of. PPA repository (https://launchpad.net/~pidgin-developers/+archive/ppa/)

Most of the messages of the Protocol ICQ comes to "creasable".

Decoder Lebedev — www.artlebedev.ru/tools/decoder shows that "strange" messages come encoded in cp1252.

How to achieve a correct display of the received messages?

PS: a Similar situation is observed in the IM client Empathy

In the account settings under "advanced" what is encoding? If ISO-8859-1, change to cp1251. If won't help read this topic: unixforum.org/index.php?showtopic=100945
